Refractory Ceramic Fibre (RCF) and Non RCF Products

The Ceramic materials we offer are categorised into 3 main groups.
Fiberfrax is a family of Refractory Ceramic Fibre products based on a composition of Alumina and Silica. There are two different temperature
ratings - 1260ºC & 1430ºC.
Insulfrax S is a Calcium-Magnesium Silicate, which is body soluble. Therefore this product has not got the same Health & Safety classification as RCF (Refractory Ceramic Fibre Products).Insulfrax S has a temperature classification of 1200ºC. See attached product information sheet.

Insulfrax S

Isofrax. Like the Insulfrax group of products Isofrax is body soluble. However Isofrax is based on a composition of Magnesium Silicate, which allows this product to be classified as 1260ºC.
We are also able to supply the High Temperature Saffil blanket, which is rated at 1600ºC.

Each of our products, Fiberfrax, Insulfrax and Isofrax is available in a wide range of forms. This ranges from Bulk Fibre, Blanket, Papers, Felts and Boards and all 3 Items can also be manufactured into Textiles, Ropes, Pre-Formed shapes, Cements & Mastics.

Bulk Fibre
There are 2 different types of Bulk Fibre. There is the Chopped Fibre and the Lubricated Fibre. The most common use of Bulk Fibre is for the packing of expansion joints in Furnaces or to repair any Spalling or damaged blanket or Modules in Furnace linings or for the packing of Kiln Car bases. For these applications you would use the lubricated Fibre.
The benefits of using Bulk Fibre are that it is Easy to Install, comes in 1260 and 1400 Temperature Classification, is Lightweight and has the Thermal Characteristics of Blanket.

Fiberfrax Durablanket.
The Fiberfrax Durablanket family of lightweight needled blankets provides effective solutions to a wide spectrum of thermal management
problems. Fiberfrax Durablanket comes in two grades. The Durablanket S, which is 1260, rated and the Durablanket Z, which is 1400 Rated
Fiberfrax Durablanket S is a premium grade product made from spun 1250ºC Ceramic Fibres. The extra long spun fibres make it one of the strongest blankets available. This along with its resilience makes it particularly tough and suitable for applications involving further handling or in difficult environments.
Fiberfrax Durablanket Z is a high temperature blanket made from spun Zirconia stabilized ceramic fibre. It is a highly efficient insulator with extremely low shrinkage at higher temperatures, low heat storage and offers complete resistance to damage from Thermal Shock. Fiberfrax Durablanket Z is ideally suited to use in high temperature furnace linings.

The blanket we supply is available in 3 different densities (96Kgs/m3, 128Kgs/m3, 160 Kgs/m3) and 5 different thicknesses (6mm up to 50mm). However should you require a lower density product, which in the case of Ceramic Fibre means
Lowering Insulating Values, we are able to offer the 64 Kgs/m3. The roll width can be supplied in 610mm or the double width 1220mm.
Typical Applications Include:
Investment Casting Mould Wrappings, Removable Insulating Blankets for field stress relieving welds, Re-Usable Insulation for Steam and Gas Turbines, Flexible High Temperature pipe Insulation, High Temperature Kiln and Furnace Insulation, Soaking pit seals, High Temparture Gaskets, Glass Furnace Crown Insulation, Incineration Equipment and Chimney Stack Linings.

Fibre Boards
We have 3 grades of Fibre Board available. The 1260, 1430 and the 1600 Grade. Each of the High temperature Rigid boards is produced from a range of Refractory Ceramic fibre blended with organic and inorganic binder systems. Each of the boards exhibits good chemical stability, resisting attack from most corrosive agents. The boards are designed for use in applications, which require high strength and rigidity coupled with high temperature stability and excellent thermal performance.
Fibre Board Availability:
The 1260 and 1430 Grade Boards are readily available in 1000 x 610 and 1250 x 1000. The thicknesses range from 3mm upto 75mm. The 1600 Grade Board is only available in sizes of 1000 x 500 x 25 or 50mm.

Typical Applications:
Each of the boards has excellent characteristics, including:
• High Temperature Stability
• Low Thermal Conductivity
• They Are Easy to cut and/or machine
• Good Flexural and compressive strength
Many of our Boards can be found in applications such as:
• Rigid High Temperature Gaskets and seals
• Hot Face Furnace linings
• Refractory back-up Insulation
• Fire Protection Systems
• High Temperature Baffles and Muffles
• Glass Tank Insulation
• Hot Gas Duct Insulation
• Back-Up Insulation on metal delivery systems
• Ground Flares and
• Heating Systems (Including Industrial and Domestic Appliances.

We have our own in-house die-cutting equipment, which allows us to meet our customers’ demands, no matter how complex the shape.

Other RCF Products available include Felts and Papers. The felts we offer are supplied in either Roll form or sheets sizes of 1250 x 1000. The thicknesses range from 3mm upto 25mm and are available in our 1260ºC and 1430ºC range. They have excellent Thermal performance and flexibility, which makes the felt ideal for uses as High Temperature Gaskets, Mould Wrap, Refractory Back-up and Insulting of Pipeworks and Hot Top Insulation in the Steel Industry.
The Paper we offer can again be offered in each of the grades I have mentioned before. The papers are made from high purity Ceramic Fibers with a small amount of Organic binder. Advanced production techniques ensure a highly uniform structure throughout which is characterized by low thermal conductivity, good handling strength and easily cut with standard equipment. They are available in thicknesses from 1mm to 8mm and are commonly used as gaskets in Industrial and Domestic Boilers, Aluminium Ingot Mould Liners and Expansion Joints.

Modules
We are able to offer Modules again in 1260ºC, 1430ºC and the Insulfrax and Isofrax range. The Modules we supply are used in a variety of industries. If installed correctly the Modules will provide a solid ceramic fiber lining without shrinkage problems or uncontrolled heat penetration.
The Ceramic Fiber Module Lining has numerous design features. These include:

• High Strength lining which is resistant to corrosion
• Unidirectional pattern of Ceramic fiber shapes allows for maximum compression and ensures tight uniform linings. Preventing Heat Loss.
• Easy and quick to install
• Minimum maintenance costs as 1 module can be removed if needed

Ropes & Textiles
We manufacture a wide range of Ropes and Textiles ranging from 550ºC-1260ºC and includes Ropes, Braids, Cloths, Tapes and Specially Fabricated Items such as Protective Gloves.

Cements, Mastics and Mixes.
The heading of Cements, Mastic and Mixes covers a wide range of products available 1. It is a product manufactured from Ceramic Fiber or 2. A product, which Compliments the Ceramic Fiber Range.
For example the LDS mouldable is manufactured using the Ceramic Fiber of your choice and can be used for the filling of any gaps, expansion joints and general maintenance on existing refractory. We have even introduced a system that allows us to make Hot Spot Repairs. This will require us to make a hole in the outside of the casing of the Furnace and Pump the mouldable through the existing Refractory, therefore filling the Hot Spot.
Then we have the Rigidiser type materials. These are the range of products that can be used to upgrade the Ceramic Fiber materials you are using. For example Rigidiser can be sprayed or brushed onto Ceramic Fiber Blankets, Boards and Paper and increases the surface hardness and erosion resistance. Flame resistance improves considerably and permeability to gases or molten metals is reduced with the coating of Rigidiser.
